Blog on Wikis

Wikis are collaborate spaces that are usually associated with user-created encyclopedia-like collection of information and ideas.

The graph below identifies how wikis are used. (As you can see, encyclopedias are but a small segment of wiki use.)

According to the website, "managing classroom information" fell into the "other" category. Hopefully, since this poll was compiled back in March, 2008, classroom use has expanded. In teaching practice, wikis can be used as collaborative spaces for student group assignments, teacher sharing spaces, class or school posting areas, student portfolios, etc.

The article discusses how to attract people to view/comment on your blog by maximizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) through the use of keywords, customizing your URL (to include keywords) and making sure there is sufficient 'copy' in what you write to have words to 'search'. It is also an excellent example of a blog, with good information, graphics, links and even an 'ad.'

It was part of the Blog Marketing Journal, a blog that "discusses all aspects of blog marketing, blog SEO, and blog marketing tips.

Blog on Blogs

Blogging should inform, provide opinion, references, and invite discussion.

Blogging should be more than random ramblings.

When I was searching for an appropriate graphic to capture this comment, I stumbled upon an article: "Writing a Blog as Medicine"

In addition to having a cartoon that illustrates 'random ramblings.' I also found an article that provides an example of a blog that expresses an opinion, provides information and includes discussion inspired by the post. Including a graphic in the form of a cartoon was a plus and led me to the blog.

As a note in my blogging progression, I also successfully inserted a picture/graphic and a link into my initial blog on blogs.
