Blog on Wikis

Wikis are collaborate spaces that are usually associated with user-created encyclopedia-like collection of information and ideas.

The graph below identifies how wikis are used. (As you can see, encyclopedias are but a small segment of wiki use.)

This graph is from the following website:

According to the website, "managing classroom information" fell into the "other" category. Hopefully, since this poll was compiled back in March, 2008, classroom use has expanded. In teaching practice, wikis can be used as collaborative spaces for student group assignments, teacher sharing spaces, class or school posting areas, student portfolios, etc.

  1. I agree with what you have to say and found your graph very useful. It was interesting to see how wiki's are being used. The use of wiki's in education is limitless. I think fears about them are beginning to lessen and hopefully they will be seen as credible information sites.

  2. I agree. It also occurred to me that this information also provides some examples of how wikis might be used in authentic problems.

  3. I like the chart... I guess I didn't think about the business ways to use the wiki.
